1ST sales of Skye exhibition

Just back from the Isle of Skye and catching up at home with the studio - sold 3 paintings this weekend, so hoping for further activity and a flourish in the next 2 weeks. We are planning our 2011 brochure now at home, and starting to fit in the dates around painting holidays already scheduled, so looking forward to tempting those of my students who didn't, or couldn't come away with us this year.....will be updating everyone soon.
Going back to Skye on Saturday....hope a few more have sold by then

Quick demo in Alghero Sardinia

This was a busy bustling scene in Alghero Sardinia last week, and lots to think about for the painting group, but everyone managed a decent record of the scene, and all the bustle & movement of the fishermen as they mended nets. The entire week was full of great landscapes, food, wine and company!! We'll be going again next year, and continuing on to Corsica afterwards, so get in touch if you are tempted to join us then!

Garden in Blooming June!

The garden looks great now we are back, and the irises are fantastic, and keeping me excited while waiting on my beloved roses!! Wish I had time to paint them, but the next workshop is flowers coming up on 30 June, so it is all shaping up nicely!!

Sardinia sunshine inspires!

Ciao amici The Sardinian sunshine has been a wonderful tonic for clearing the head. I have met some lovely new students, taken some Scottish students with me, and met up again with dear friends from USA and Australia! What a wonderful group! My exhaustion after teaching is elated with that wonderful glow of meeting exciting new friends, and hope I will meet them all again! Bella Sardinia are the organisers and becoming great friends of ours as we work together to put a good programme of workshops together..next year, you ALL must come and see for yourslef. Sardinia and Corsica together, then Malta, Gozo and Sicily. Wil download some demos tomorrow when we get home..then catch up on the final touches of the paintings for the Skye exhibition, which can almost all be seen now on our website www.shinafoot.co.uk

Work in progress

I'm trying not to rush this piece, but interrupted by a teaching week in Sardinia now,(tough huh?!) so will finish off when I return. A fresh eye, renewed vigour will help to see it clearly after a hard week in the studio where sometimes you can't see where you're going anymore, because you're looking too hard!

Re-awakening critical aims!

Sounds a bit heavy, but I really had to get malcolm to give me a serious critique - I want the work to be stronger, looser, much more abstracted in the future, but sometimes, with too much teaching, it 'tightens' me up...had a radical look at the latest exhibition work and made a few changes, but this is just the tip of the iceberg to follow!

I down - 1 to go!!

pastel Landscapes workshop just finished and a productive weekend for everyone - attached are the demos, which are actually presentable enough for the forthcoming exhibition, once tidied up a bit!! Tomorrow is PURE COLOUR workshop - and i have just decided I MUST take the group outside to paint the poppies that are just opening in force - pink, red, orange, burgundy and even white ones!! Watch this space!
